“the affair which you have commemmorated” [MUSG]
One of the most influential adaptations of Sherlock Holmes in the last half century is inarguably the Granada/ITV series starring Jeremy Brett. And 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the program's first airing.
Who better to lead a celebration of this iconic show and all who were associated with it, than the team from The Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes Podcast? Gus and Luke Holwerda return to IHOSE to talk about their plans, along with their producer David Youell. This trio is planning a jam-packed agenda with members of the cast and crew of the Granada series, and may have a few surprises up their sleeves.
They're also busy at work editing their latest episode — a doozy: they cover The Hound of the Baskervilles. We discuss what makes a good version, what might have made it better, and some of the technical details.
Join us for a roundup of Sherlockian news and another round of the Canonical Couplet quiz. The winner, chosen at random from all correct answers, will receive some gems from the IHOSE vaults. Send your answer to comment @ ihearofsherlock .com by April 14, 2024 at 11:59 a.m. EDT. All listeners are eligible to play.
If you become a supporter of the show, not only will you help to ensure we can keep doing what we do, covering file hosting costs, production, and transcription services, but we have thank-you gifts at certain tiers and ad-free versions of the episodes for all patrons.
And, we have 15 minutes of additional conversation with Gus, Luke, and David for our supporters. Don't miss a chance to hear where the conversation led.
