If you frequent this site, you're certainly familiar with our 10 year-long show, in which we interview notable Sherlockians who are doing their part to keep the memory of Sherlock Holmes green. I Hear of Sherlock Everywhere has evolved over that decade, but we're on a steady cadence of long-form interviews on the 15th and 30th of every month.
Meanwhile, over on Trifles, we're engaged in something different: we have short discussions of about 15 minutes in length every week in which we talk about one or two issues that we've noticed within the Sherlock Holmes stories. It's an approach that we hope brings more people into our fold who are new to Sherlock Holmes and are fascinated with the details within the story, or who may have some questions about what they read.
And now, on with the recap of our November shows.
November Update
The month of November gave us five opportunities to meet and discuss things. The first was hot on the heels of Halloween, so we dutifully observed the holiday with Episode 44: The Supernatural. Be sure to check out some ghoulish humor in the comments section there.We then took the opportunity to use Veterans Day (in the U.S.) and Armistice Day (in Europe) to investigate a troubling trend of questionable ethics in Episode 45: Military Morality. Hardly a single member of the top brass came out shining.
In Episode 46: A History of Pince-Nez, we took a closer look at the peculiar eyewear that lent its name to one of the cases of Sherlock Holmes.
That brought us to the week of Thanksgiving in the U.S., when families gather round the table and hearth to feast together and give thanks. But all isn't as it seems in most households, and we find that Canonical households are no exception in Episode 47: Happy Families.
And finally, we took a look at a trend of criminals who were caught in the act in the Sherlock Holmes stories in Episode 48: Gotcha!
