But before that, we were greeted with other substantial news.</div><div><br /></div><h4><i>The </i>Woman</h4><div><i>The </i>Woman, an honorific given to the spouse of a Baker Street Irregular was announced at the pre-dinner reception. This year's honoree was <b>Ann Brauer Andriacco</b>, wife of <b>Dan Andriacco, BSI</b> (" St. Saviour’s, Near King’s Cross"). She was toasted and introduced by <b>Robert Sharfman, BSI</b> ("Killer Evans"), who is affectionately known as "Ann's boyfriend." Ann gave her own touching and humorous remarks.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /><h4>The Morley-Montgomery Award</h4></div><div>Each year, one article in the <i><a href="https://ihose.co/BSJ" target="_blank">Baker Street Journal</a></i> (as determined by a panel of judges) is chosen for the <a href="https://bakerstreetirregulars.com/2001/05/01/morley-montgomery-award/" target="_blank">Morley-Montgomery Award</a>. </div><div><br /></div><div>This year, the award was given to <b>Fabienne Courouge, BSI</b> ("Henri Fournaye ") for her article “Edmond Locard, the Forensic Pioneer Inspired by Sherlock Holmes,” appearing in the Summer 2025 issue of the <i>BSJ</i>.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><h3>The Honours List (Investitures)</h3><div>And then we arrived at the announcement of the latest investitures into the Baker Street Irregulars. Membership is granted by <b>Michael Kean, BSI</b> ("General Gordon"), who serves at the BSI's "Wiggins." This necessarily requires a change in leadership from time to time. The Watson Fund provides a means of support for those who might not otherwise be able to afford events at the BSI Weekend. The nominator should complete an essay of <b>750 words or fewer </b>that answers this question: “Who do you believe should be recognized for their work in mentoring aspiring Sherlockians and why? Spanning from <i>Tom Sawyer</i> to <i>The Complete Sherlock Holmes</i> to <i>The Essays of Francis Bacon </i>and <i>Kidnapped</i>, the book is constructed in such a way that it doesn’t require a full commitment; you can read as many or as few essays as you like at a time, and you'll still walk away satisfied.<br /><br />It’s an entire book that has no beginning, middle, or end, and is simply chapter after chapter of reveries and personal anecdotes, wrapped in the dust jacket of literature.<div><br />In his preface to Walt Whitman’s <i>Leaves of Grass</i> we find a validation of People Like Us ― people enamored with books; people who can find meaning in pages that haven't been opened for decades (or longer); people who find inspiration in nearly everything they read.  In this preface wrote of one of his own favorite tributes to <i>Leaves of Grass</i>, penned by another author:<br /><blockquote>“The passage I mean was written in 1887 by Robert Louis Stevenson. Maggie was a designer and metallurgist, providing countless props to Hollywood productions over the years. For others, it may be on Carbuncle Day (the second morning after Christmas).
