"I Think That I Have Deserved Better..." [HOUN]
The 2006 Quill Awards were awarded at a gala in New York City last night. Readers certainly did their part in voting for Les Klinger in the Mystery/Suspense/Thriller category. However, his monumental work, The New Annotated Sherlock Holmes, was not the winner in the category last night.
Still, it's wonderful to see a Sherlockian - one whom I am lucky to call a friend - in the same category as the competition. I suppose I was guilty of feeling a little overconfident, thanks to Les' other awards over the last year or two. Plus, I root for him simply because I like him.
Les is coming to the end of his Sherlock Holmes Reference Library series as well. Between that and NASH, it's been quite a run...

I can only second Scott's comments. Leslie Klinger has emerged as one of the great Sherlockian scholars - and he's remained a thoroughly nice guy.
Well done on getting shortlisted, Les. I'm sorry you didn't win. (Lord, I wish I had your energy!)
