"Odd, Watson - very odd!" [SOLI]

In February 2007, we discovered the blog of Ernie Gilbert, an animation designer / art director. He works on the animated show The Fairly OddParents, which is second in popularity on Nickolodeon only to SpongeBob Squarepants. Fans of the show may be aware that he depicted Sherlock Holmes in one of the episodes.

The image below shows the early sketches for the final version of Sherlock Holmes:
Ernie captioned this sketch, "The World's Greatest Detective, what?" Indeed. Sherlock Holmes appeared in Episode 53, Season 4 of the series, in a show titled "Shelf Life."

The Fairly OddParents

We asked Ernie if we could use his design for our site's logo and he complied, even colorizing the initial design for us:

And we don't think is is a coincidence, but Ernie's profile lists They Might Be Giants as one of his favorite bands. A true Sherlockian.

Ernie can now be found at Ernie's Pad.

I saw this episode when it first aired. Hilarious. Holmes passed by almost too quickly, but I was happy to see him. Nice job, Ernie!

Hmmm. Personally, I prefer the Holmes gag in Bob Clampett's classic "The Great Piggy Bank Robbery."

What odds (sorry about that)? The "Shelf Life" episode is on Nicktoons today at 3:30 p.m. (EST)!

Great! I love Fairly Odd Parents -- very good stuff. Unfortunately, I've missed this episode.
